A statistical analysis of the relationship between land distribution and insurgency in South Vietnam. In contrast to the theory that inequality of land distribution contributes to insurgency, the analysis reveals that the secure province in South Vietnam from the point of view of government control is one in which few peasants work their own land, distribution of land holdings is.
